I have done research on this trip and onlinepany. It is a fantastic deal and a great “first time” exposure to travel in China. However, travelers should be aware that this trip is subsidized by the Chinese Government and the “catch” is that they drop you off in government sponsored shopping stops every day. You have a short amount of time on the Great Wall for example, but then they leave you for a few hours in the shopping center so you’ll spend a lot of your American dollars while waiting for the tour but to return. Still a great deal like I said, you are getting way more value than you pay for BUT be prepared for a lot of shopping stops along the way 🙂

      Thanks for the additional information!
I wonder if you could just fly in to Shanghai and do your own thing until the return flight?
Shanghai is such an amazing city – and this would be a great flight price to Shanghai!!

I must be the only one, but shopping really appeals to me anytime, anyplace. My husband would hate it though, unless they had bars! 😂

Marie, your onlinement made me smile. Haha I can see the appeal, too.

My tour onlinepany took us to the silk factory and I loved some of the pijamas. As far as the price, they were expensive but they assured that they were “high quality” and the price was fixed since it was controlled hy the government so I bit the bullet and bought them. On our way to the next city, while in the airport, one of the shops carried the EXACT paid of pijamas for less than HALF the price!!!! I was so pissed off that I onlineplained to the tour onlinepany, since I know they get kickbacks from purchases, and they promised to return the item for me and gave me my money back in cash. I would reonlinemend to NOT purchase anything ib these “govt shops”, they are all over inflated and a trap. Same thing happened to me in Russia 🤦‍♀️

I personally took a trip similar to the one offered, and I can verify that this is exactly what happens. While it is a great exposure to China, you are funneled to specific areas for a “shopping spree” and independent travel outside of the tour is heavily frowned upon. And just as Liesl said, much of your valuable travel time is delegated to this specific shopping. Overall it was a great experience, but if you are an independent traveler like me and my husband, you will find it annoying to be pushed into the required shopping excursions and I would have preferred having the option to expand sightseeing rather than shop.

Wonderful price for getting a quick view of China. (I paid that much for a flight cross country in the USA in June.) I can’t imagine a lower price than this trip. I’ve traveled to China and loved the experience! It is an amazing country. Normally I would rather travel to a foreign country on my own without a tour, but because of the language barrier it really is helpful to have someone with you who speaks Chinese. I was blessed to have Chinese family members with me on the trip so it was really easy. But if you don’t a tour or guide is best, in my opinion.

Amazing deal, but the fine print, which few people read, tells you that what is not included. When it’s all said and done, you’ll spend a whole lot more. Not to mention the shopping excursions, they are over the top. Buyer beware! At the end, it’s been said, you get what you paid for.

Where does flight depart from in US? All together including flight hotel fees and food, how much qill this teip cost? Can we go on our own if we choose to skip a tour..is it safe? What type of hotel? Is there food nearby to control spending? Dates trop available? What other tours do you offer? Thx

Shopping is included in almost any tour in any country. They assume it what Americans want to do. My hubby and I were stuck in Nazareth, with armed guards in tow, inside a store. Were given less time to tour the church then to shoo.

Wait i’m confused so the tour onlinepany make you go to these shopping places but do you actually HAVE to buy something ? Can you just stand outside the store or do something else ? I do enough shopping at home so I would hate to go some place that’s beautiful and spend most of my time in a shopping area.

I have the travel bugs, but traveling is not an option right now. I do want to visit China. I know things will fall in place in due time.. Enjoy
