Coincidentally, I just got back from Walmart after “attempting” to utilize the $6/3 coupon. Nope, it wouldn’t scan, so guess what that means — they won’t take it. Drives me buggy. Interestingly enough as well, I printed off the DiGiorno coupon along with a $1 any Activia item, which did scan with no issues. Has anyone ever had it out with Walmart about the fact that I KNOW it is simply the amount of the coupon ($6) that the machine does NOT like?

Is my coupon NOT scanning a regional thingy? I’d love to hear others’ experiences.

    • Lilly

Yes, I also have had a problems with high value coupons there. They told me that they have a new coupon policy that if it doesn’t scan they can’t except it. But there is always an employee that will honor it. It’s a 50/50 chance.

    • Denise

I have also had issues with Walmart not accepting freshly printed coupons off coupon.online site. Even lower value coupons seem to beep at our local Walmart. I have better luck at CVS and target with coupons

Does anyone know if I can scan coupon(s) at the self checkout at Walmart?

    • DSch

That’s where I tried scanning the coupons… at the self-checkout. Nope. However, something I did not try this time is that the first time I just scanned it over the register scanner, but I did not try the wand scanning. I remember I had a coupon one time that did NOT scan over the register, and for some odd reason, I then grabbed the wand and it worked. Good luck if anyone wants to give it a whirl.

    • Jennie b

I’ve never had an issue scanning coupons through the self check. if you have any problems, just ask the attendant and they can help you.

      • DSch

You are very fortunate, Jennie b. My attendants (and at one time I had a manager called) said, “No, if it won’t scan, we can’t accept it.” Now I can appreciate my friend’s despise towards Walmart. I’ll wait to go to Walgreen’s to get the deal Collin posted earlier that starts on Sunday.

  3. Laura

Just got home from my Walmart. Coupon wouldn’t scan but a manager did an override. I used 4 coupons. Bought 12 pizzas and paid $18 OOP.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Great score Laura! SO glad the manager could help!

I recently found out that any coupon valued over $5 will beep at Walmart, not because it is not valid, but because the manager must approve any coupon over $5. When it happens, I just ask the cashier to call over the manager for approval. I have never had a manager disapprove a coupon. I find it easier to go through self checkout when using the high value coupons as to not hold up a single line.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing your experience! I have also found my store managers to be helpful in approving my coupons whenever they beep!

    • Denise

Your lucky our local Walmart managers claim any coupons that beep and won’t scan at register will not be accepted

    • DSch

Christina, I even told the self-checkout attendant that very fact… that the coupon beeped because of the amount over $5. Still had an inelastic attitude.

    • scott

I attempted the coupon for the second day in a row and still it did not work. They worker called for CSM approval and she told me the same thing, if it won’t scan, they can’t take it. They can no longer key it in or override it. She said something about the cost of the pizza versus the value of the coupon. It’s apparently a new policy. Go figure!

  5. Tarri

At one of my stores, this coupon will say to call CSM. I had it happen with a Visine coupon that was only 1.50 and he came over saw it was good, even looked at all my other coupons and applied it. I don’t use self checkout because one lady there will onlinee over and tell me they don’t take internet print coupons now.

    • DSch

Tarri, thankfully, I’ve never had an issue with printed coupons (as long as they are not over $5) at Walmart. Did you by chance use a lesser quality print such as “draft” print? I know when I print out coupons or anything that needs to be scanned by a machine, I always leave it on normal print. I hate doing that, but don’t want to take chances if it does not scan because of poor quality. I do tell my printer to at least use black/white to save on color ink. Just my 3 cents worth!

      • Tarri

I don’t think it was printed on a lesser quality print, because all the other printed ones I had did not have an issue. It scanned, just said that it needed a CSM. I thought it was strange since it was only 1.50 coupon.

Wal-Mart coupon policy. I guess I will print a copy before I go to Wal-Mart.

The system will prompt for supervisor verification for:
4 or more like coupons per transaction.
A coupon of $5 and over.
$50 or more in coupons in one transaction.
Coupons totaling a percentage (%) off of the total sale.

    • Tarri

I was thinking the percentage might of been why mine did it, but he scanned the other coupons after it while waiting for CSM and they went through. I guess it is a mystery.

    • DSch

Annie, do you have the link to that policy? I’m googling it now though! Thank you. Man, I hope that works. So tired of Walmart.

      • DSch

Thank you, Annie. I just got off the phone with my local Walmart. The CMS did say that the cashier should have called them over for verification, but that yes, as long as the coupon was verified, they would accept it. Ugggg… Told him they need to educate the self-check outs. Of course, now, I’ll just wait til they go on sale at Walgreens! Their loss.

  7. MISSLISH1A

Good to know. I was going to stop there after work tomorrow. I will be prepared to ask for assistance if the coupon beeps.

  8. Jill

I just used it at my Walmart but it took a head cashier to over ride it. Mine were 5.00 a piece so it came out to be 3.00 a piece after the coupon. Which is still a good deal to me.

  9. Mrs.W

What a great price! Hoping my store will accept the coupon! Thanks hip2save!
