UPDATE (10/4/2018): Seven more stores are closing in New York, Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, Ohio, California and Illinois. Go here for more details.

Sears announced that they are closing 72 more Sears and K mart stores as part of their ongoing efforts to streamline the onlinepany’s operations and focus on their best stores. They have identified around 100 non-profitable stores, 72 of which will begin store closing sales in the near future.

These store closures are in addition to the more than 160 locations Sears has already closed this year. The list of the 72 Sears and Kmart locations closing was just released and includes locations in Illinois, Georgia, California and more.

I always get nervous seeing these Store Closing posts. Thankfully our Sears is Not on the list yet (our Kmart already closed).

Good riddance to our horrible store. Hopefully we will get something in that space that we can actually be an asset to our mall. The K Mart in the town where we have our lake house closed in the last round and now there is a nice new Hobby Lobby which is a real asset to the small town where there was nowhere to buy craft supplies or fabric.

the first Sears store open in Chicago in 1893 you could buy anything in the Sears catalog. they even sold houses it’s sad to see the end of an era and the corporate giant like that go down

My sears is closing ..I just hate to see stores close ,so many people loose their jobs .I will miss my store .

My store is not on the list which is weird because the store is practically EMPTY. I can’t buy from them even when I try.

I am so scared my brother works for sears and has for about 20 years long story short 2nd marriage new baby and it won’t let me open

Yep, our local store is closing (whaaaah!) I will miss the $1, $2 and $4 clearance clothing racks (Arvada CO)

Oh no my Sears is on the list 🙁 and the last kmart in my area. I pray Sears and Kmart dont end up like Toys r us. Seems like they are closing out all their stores little by little

My store is on the list. I only actually went there twice. I started going there when I saw that I had FREECASH rewards money. I had a $14 and $12 off any clothing purchase and used them about a month ago to get a shirt, shorts, a dress, and a top/bottom outfit for my kids for $3 total. Then just last week I saw that I had a lot more of those deals. I went in the store and got myself 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, 2 nice shirts, and 3 large candles for $6 total! Not surprised at all that they are closing seeing all the points that they had given me.

I am deeply saddened by my Kmart’s uponlineing closure. I did most of my shopping there. Got to know staff and they knew me. Walmart has a monopoly and on the other hand has yet to offer online coupons or purchases that offer points either. Sad day, very sad.

I am sad also mine is closing and I just found out about this app called win it. You play games and get real money to spend at the store sense Christmas I have been able to score over a hundred dollars in free stuff a month. I have been creating a stock pile of TP, bar soap, paper towels, mouthwash and laundry and dish soap. This is very upsetting to me.

Besides a good chunk of Sears Home stores, there were only 11 Sears in GA. Now that 3 more have closed, I’m worried the one closest to me is going to share that fate. If this happens I have to travel two hours to the next one.

So I’ve been signed up for Kmart for awhile don’t understand how it works it says I have $10 in free cash in rewards what’s that mean?

If you make a purchase you’ll have the option to apply it to your purchase.

Our Sears in Spartanburg, SC is on the closing list but I am not surprised. It is AWFUL!! Last time I tried to do a store pick up I had to wait over 30 minutes and I still did not get my stuff. The lady that finally came out to help said the guy that was supposed to be working had just walked off the job!!

Both Sears by me adele on the list in IL. Bummer I always go there for a certain pillow I like and my husbands tools. Dang I’ll need to stock up on pillows!

Our Kmart is not on the list this time but I’m sure it will be soon. The store is huge but very sparsely stocked with aisles of empty shelves. I only shop there when I have FREECASH points. I don’t see them being around much longer.

Went to a Sears today in the mall and it needs to be closed. Sorry but there were clothes and hangers all over the ground and not an assoc. in sight. We thought this store might be closing but alas it is not.

My sears is closing 😭 I’ve been getting awesome deals with points recently. Soon the whole mall is going to be empty.

Never shopped Sears or Kmart always too expensive. With poor customer service there is no one to staff these stores anymore. Sign of the times for sure. Our mall that has anchors Younkers, Sears and JcPennys 2 out of the 3 are closing. Our mall is almost empty. It is sad to see all of the empty store fronts, but rent is sky high and with online shopping and having the means to have all delivered to your front door is what consumers want.
