  Hi Marie! It looks like as long as these watches are paired with your iPhone, they should be able to take calls. However, if you don’t have your iPhone nearby they won’t work. Hope that helps!

  Yes Cassandra! They will let you know you have a call as long as they’re within reach. However if you leave your phone behind you can’t rely on your watch for calls, emails etc. I love mine! To all honesty I don’t care about having cellular option, this watch still does so much !

  Hi Cassandra. You were correct the first time. The Apple Watch IS able to receive phone calls and text messages as long as it’s paired with your iPhone using iCloud. If you want to have a cellular plan where you can take phone calls independent of your iPhone, i.e., making phone calls when you are on a morning run WITHOUT your iPhone, then that’s where the cellular onlinees in. I have this exact Apple Watch Series 3. (GPS) and I love it.

  Yes you can!!! You just can’t do it with out your cellphone near by.

  Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) uses the network connection of your nearby iPhone to send and receive text messages, answer phone calls, and receive notifications. The built-in GPS works independently of your iPhone for distance, pace, and route mapping in workouts. And you can do many other things independent of your iPhone, like measure your heart rate, play locally stored music, and pay with Apple Pay.

  Is cellular so that you can use the watch as the phone and make call or text even if you don’t have the phone around? Does cellular require extra charge with the provider?

  Yeah except you cannot reply with a mic with a text, or text back with quick replies. The versa only allows android users to use the new feature of quick reply once they onlinee out with the update! But thats cool though that you enjoy your watch.

   Just an FYI. I have a hard time waiting for things, so my husband went to the Apple store and they price matched and I got mine today! I had the series 1, I’m so excited to start using this one since it has GPS and my runs will be more accurate!

  Yes, you have 30-60 days to add AppleCare to your products. I don’t remember the exact time frame for all devices but I had 60 days to add it to my iPhone after I purchased it from my mobile carrier.

    Funny story. After reading this post I started researching more about it but got confused..I tried to hint my husband that I wanted one but I knew he would say no because of our big splurges in the House..I was sad through the day but then he handed me a long rectangular box that’s wrapped. He said happy Mother’s Day and I opened it..guess what was inside?? An iPhone watch series 3! 🙂
