This Fathers Day, a personalized hammer makes a fun, thoughtful, useful gift.

Need a thoughtful and fun Gift Idea for Dad?

Celebrate Father’s Day with this unique, personalized hammer for Dad or Grandpa (and attach the FREE printable “Thanks for Building Memories with Me” tag I’ve designed for you to use)! You can also easily personalize the hammer itself by making a custom decal from permanent adhesive vinyl.

This is a fun and simple craft to make with a Cricut or Silhouette vinyl cutting machine.

You can, of course, embellish a hammer you already have, or you can pick some up specifically for this project. I found these 16 oz. wooden handle hammers in-store at Walmart for just $2.88, and they appear to be pretty good quality!

1.) Cut any personalized sayings you’d like from adhesive vinyl and size it to your hammer. (If you’re curious, I used a font called Bauhaus 93, at about .7 inches tall, and I made all the text equal – about 9 inches wide.)

2.) Weed out excess vinyl.

3.) Use transfer tape to transfer vinyl to the hammer.

4.) Smooth out any bubbles and peel off the tape, leaving behind the lettering on the hammer.

These personalized hammers turned out so fun!

I really enjoyed this simple project, and that it’s such a thoughtful and frugal gift for Father’s Day. if you don’t have a Cricut, consider sanding the wooden handle, letting the kids paint the hammer, and sealing the top with clear sealer or decoupage. So fun!

I’ve also seen this with another phrase on it. It’s crude, so skip if you are easily offended.

    ******Thanks for nailing Mom******

      hahahahaha too funny!

I also saw one for Grandpa…Thanks for nailing Grandma!

Nooooo. My grandparents, who have been gone for many years, were sweet, old fashioned people…I’d have to explain that to them and I wouldn’t even have the nuggets to do so or even know how to start that conversation. Both them and I would die of embarrassment. Different times then. BUT I still can’t see my kids (15,13 and 11) explaining it to their grandparents today!

That’s so funny, but I’d never buy it for my dad. Ew 😝
