    So sad!

  3. Kaleena

Loosing my Kmart this month. Hoping sears holds out since I love the swy rewards program

  4. Taya

Seems like most are already gone..how many are even left?!

  5. Melinda

Out Kmart is going out of business. I’m really bummed. I love Kmart!!

  6. Deb

No longer have any Kmarts or Sears near me…๐Ÿ˜ญ No more JC Penney stores, one of our Macy’s left… ๐Ÿ˜ญ At least Target and Kohl’s are hanging on…

  7. Laura

Lost both of the Kmarts here several years ago. My local Sears is safe… for now. My Macy’s closed this past March too. Make it stop!

  8. Jessica

I live in Pittsburgh (Western Pennsylvania) and I am losing my closest Sears and 2 Kmarts. Itโ€™s definitely a sign of the times.

    • JA

I have no clue how the North Versailles KMart is staying open. That store has really gone downhill. We used to love going there. But now, I feel like I need a shower when I get home.

  9. Luv2save2

I have a “Picture with Santa” taken at Sears & Roebuck from 1962. *Sniff* Will miss both Sears and Kmart.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      How sweet! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Nina

Sears is a reminder of times past. We have 1 two blocks away and it remains fairly busy as we live in a busy city but I can imagine in areas that are less populated stores like Sears and Kmart definitely suffer. Between online shopping and so many smaller, cheaper onlinepetitors itโ€™s not on the younger generations radar.

  11. Heather C

Well, our K-Mart burned down in the Santa Rosa fire and I doubt they will rebuild.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh no! Very sorry to hear about that ๐Ÿ™

  12. Sara

There are currently two malls in my city. The older mall barely has anything left. It only has a Dillard’s Clearance Center and a Virginia College. Sears and JCPenney closed last year. The newer mall still has Dillard’s(split into two separate stores), Macy’s, JCPenney, Nordstrom Rack, and Sears. There is a third mall, but it is now just an office building. It used to be really popular until a new mall was built. Now that new mall is quickly being eclipsed by the newest mall.

So sad that this onlinepany is dying. I grew up with them and to some extent, still enjoy them…..BUT they make it SO hard to buy things and give them your money. The lines are long, the employees don’t really care a whole lot. Online shopping has been frustrating. I think I just got my 5th order “cancelled” because “items not in stock” (even though it said they were. Bad management all around. :o( But I love the nostalgia, and my child loves the toy section in Kmart….so, we are keeping our fingers crossed that it hangs in there…

  15. Angelica

Can i still use my points for my closing Kmart. ever since I found out that my kmart was closing, I tried to do online orders but it won’t let me do store pick up. ๐Ÿ™

    • Lori

I’d like to know about points too. I’m in same situation, tried to order item for in store pickup last night and pickup wasn’t available at my store. Only to find out it is one that’s closing.

    • amy111

I was in the same situation the months before our Kmart was closed. We were able to spend our points in store, but not order for pick up.

    • Jessica

You can use points in store. I was at mine earlier today which is closing, they wouldn’t allow any coupons to be used though

    • Kathryn

After going through the closing of my kmarts, I will tell you my experience, maybe it will help. That being said, the last one was 6 months ago, so it may have changed!

Points still worked to the end and coupons loaded to my account also worked (check Kmart and Shop Your Way both and load everything). There were no refunds, PERIOD, so make sure they do it right before you pay! (Another reason to check your merchandise for defects)

They raised the prices to tagged price and then took percents off in steps, by department (example: boots that are 60% off online are 10% off instore). They also took out the price scanners around the store early which added to the frustration. The good news was points kept accumulating and there were some bargains, later in the process.

      • MrsK

When our Kmart began closing, the associates told me that I could Not use any points Or coupons. They would not even enter my phone number or scan my loyalty card. I’m glad that your closing Kmart was kinder.

  16. Debbie

Kmart literally 2 mins from my house is closing. ๐Ÿ˜ญ I go there all because it is so close. Closest store will now be 15 mins away and Is walmart ๐Ÿ˜

  17. Dwclausi

Very Sad! I like Sears and Kmart, but Amazon and Walmart have taken over!

  18. v

I was reading earlier today that “someone” made a prediction that Amazon would make a move to buy Target…..in an effort to take a bite out of Walmart’s reign.
Time will tell if that onlinees to light. I don’t like that Whole Foods now only has coupons via their App. No options to print out coupons anymore for Whole Foods.

  19. Sandy

I’m sadden by this news ๐Ÿ™

  20. Tia

Still hanging on in Broward County, FL.

  21. Rachel

All the sears and kmarts anywhere near me have already closed. It’s so sad.

  22. Just passing through

My sears is hanging on! Love the clearance sales (3.99/1.99!!!!) Even tho itโ€™s small and the employees arenโ€™t very helpful. I miss Kmart and their extra 50% off clearance toys!
Every time I mention sears to my sister she says ppl still shop there?

  23. JeannieNy

I used my Kmart pharmacy for at least 15 years, I got to know the employees–and then one day they just closed with one week’s notice! I can’t believe my Kmart is NOT on the list–when I go in there, the lights are always dim and it just looks like it’s going out-of-business!

  24. Joe

I guess these stores are closing because of the great economy weโ€™re in. Only the wealthy survive.

    • Sara

It makes me wonder. We have new stores popping up all over the place in southern WI. It seems like the stores that have failed to adapt to the changing market trends are the ones that are closing.

The Kmart put by us is horrible. Poor selection, terrible customer service, long lines, and general disorganization.

I have literally left my items in the check out line after waiting 15 minutes just to pay.

Those who fail to adapt, fail. โ˜น๏ธ

  25. Laurie

Everyone’s shopping Amazon. Of course the brick and mortar stores are drying up.

  26. ANDREA MARTIN

Thats sad. I wish people would support the B&M stores over Amazon. So many people losing their jobs, our malls are like ghost towns. Sears and Kmart were so generous with the coupons during the holidays, I got quite a lot from them. I was surprised the quality of towels and bedding is so good in Sears.

    • *Angela-Miles*

I agree with you!! I actually did more small business shopping last year, to try an help those people out alittle. I do love Kmart tho, just wish all these chains could survive :-/ :-/ . I have also got some sheets from Sears that were nice quality

  27. Karen

I donโ€™t care for Sears. Order a freezer and went to pick up 6 months later and they had restock the freezer but did not credit my account. By the time I got it straighten out with corporate, they said itโ€™s been over a year and I lost $500. Now we donโ€™t have a freezer and out of $500.

    • ana

Sorry, something is off there. No one in their right mind buys something that costs $500 and waits 6 months to pick it up. I understand why they would restock, they are not a storage unit. Not Sears fault.

  28. Megs

We will only have ONE left in Iowa – I think. Itโ€™s sad. I remember as a kid going there, and itโ€™s just a nostalgic store for me to run to sometimes…๐Ÿ˜ข

    • Raedev

We used to have an ice cream parlor in our kmart when I was a kid. I used to get superman ice cream there๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜ญ

      • Casey

Me too! One of my fondest memories is my mom buying me superman ice cream from the Kmart cafe.

  29. Mommyof5

All my sears are hang8ng in there

  30. Jen

Our kmart closed a year ago. Our sears store is on the list. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

  31. Raedev

No wonder I can’t do in store pick up anymore ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข mines on the list …

  32. Mary

Sad to see Brick and mortar stores are closing… Many people are losing jobs.

  33. Starkissed01

My local Kmart is on the list closing in April and I am sad about it! I got such great deals from them and loved using my points. I am really surprised the nearest Sears wasnโ€™t on the list. The last time I stopped in, it had really gone downhill.

  34. browniesmomma

I hope my Kmart near me never closes. I love that store. Can always find onlinefortable clothes, even leggings, that do not shrink! So sad that so many have closed over the years….. ๐Ÿ™

    • *Angela-Miles*

      Me too!! Love their clothes

  35. Bill

We as consumers really need to support or local stores . Our neighbors, friends and family are losing their jobs. Most retail brick and mortar stores, also price match the big internet businesses. All I read and hear is how great the economy is, yea if your a big bank on Wall Street and are wealthy. We are all getting hosed, again and again, and again.

    • Amy

Yes, a lot of these stores will price match. However, it all onlinees down to this sad fact… Americans are lazy. Look at all the drive thrus, delivery services, and pick up places. If Americans have the option to shop online from home on the couch, in our pajamas, and then have it delivered with no effort whatsoever. Then this is what will beonlinee the norm and in turn, will kill brick and mortar stores. I’m no saint, I do it as well.

  36. MrsK

My heart always skips a beat when I see that more Sears stores are closing. Thankfully our local Sears (about half an hour away) is Not on the closing list.

  37. Hope

I always hated Sears. Only started shopping at Kmart again due to syw. I feel bad about people losing jobs. But those stores are closing for good reasons.

  38. Jackson Michaels

Yes it is sad, but I agree with a lot of people their service does suck. I used to be an assistant manager in Kmart but even after so many meetings on how we could improve revenue and better customer service no one ever listened. When the head haunchos would visit I did tell them we didnโ€™t have enough cashiers opening, that our employees where not being trained properly. One of them accused me of trying to do things my way so they started cutting my hours. After 20 years I turned in my vest and quit. I gave this job my best but honestly, Kmart sucked the life out of me. And for those on ypu on here onlineplaining that Americans are lazy, who are you to judge how people do shopping? Itโ€™s for convenience and what suits you best. Sometimes people need to keep their onlinements to themselves

  39. Sue

We had 4 Kmarts within 20 minutes. One closed in the past few months & another is on this list. The Sears at my mall is still there, but the one at another mall 20 minutes away closed over a year ago. I used to go to Kmart all the time, but their prices on many items are more than what I pay at Walmart or Target. I used to shop their toy clearance, but the clearance prices at mine match the regular prices at other stores. The only times I go there are when I know there’s holiday or seasonal clearance. & it doesn’t help that we get no ads from Sears or Kmart anymore. My mom used to shop Kmart weekly, but now that she doesn’t get an ad to tell her what’s on sale, she doesn’t go very often.

  40. Leslie845

The local sears by me is closing. Our mall is basically gone. Macyโ€™s closed. JC Penney closed. All the stores are boarded up. The mall was once a crazy place to shop, hangout with friends, go out to eat. Now itโ€™s a ghost town. It is sad to see how life is changing.

  41. hrosana

NO!!!! My Kmart near me is closing so sad no more freebies ๐Ÿ™

  42. *Angela-Miles*

    Such sad sad news ๐Ÿ™ :-/ ๐Ÿ™ :-/ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

  43. Ian Christopher Alexander

We still have Kmart and Sears in Frederick Maryland they both have lots of customers and the K mart in Hagerstown Maryland is still open and that sears in Hagerstown Maryland closed even in that part of Pennsylvania they still have Kmart but their Sears closed.
