   Be cautious when purchasing gift cards second hand. I recently purchased a gift card (for an athletic leisure-ware store that my teenage boys like…) at a gift card reseller’s website (Cardcash). I foolishly did not use the card by the 45 day guarantee period…and someone mysteriously used the balance of my card ($84.41) at a store in California (I live in MN…& haven’t been to California for many years!). No surprise that the store itself (who suspect it to be a “suspicious” purchase) nor the gift card reseller will reimburse me any money. I guess I didn’t even stop to think that the person selling the card would/could save the gift card number to use later. Buyer beware!

  Just an FYI for readers here: I buy all the time from the seller “PayPal digital gifts” (which a few of these I checked are from) and they are legit. They have a 99.8% rating (always check that if buying from eBay). I’ve never had a problem with my purchases from them. However, I’d beware if a private seller was selling a specific dollar amount (ex $64.38) that isn’t even (like $25) as it is a store refund card and you don’t know if it is valid!
