Thank you for this. I’m stuck on what to do for stockings. This helps a lot!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welonlinee!

    • Susan

Stockings for teen girls are soooo easy! Lotion, shower gel, scrubbie, anything from Lush, nail polish, cuticle cream, nail clippers, cute emery boards, picture frame, string lights for her room, favorite magaxine, gift cards.

  2. Marie

Thank u for the great ideas!
    Question???
Does anyone have trouble stuffing your boys stocking? I feel like i ALWAYS do the same for my son hes 7 yrs old…books, blind bags, socks, candy =/

    • Michele

Yes! I need suggestions for boys! Last year I did candy, flashlight, tape measure etc.

    • Jamie

My 8yo boy is getting Pokémon mega blox sets, “lego” tape rolls, gum, fuzzy socks, a cheap DVD and a hardcover book in his stocking!

      • Becky

        What are Lego tape rolls?

        • Sharol

Lego tape is a roll of tape that is adhesive, similar to a base plate with studs on it, except it’s on a continuous strip so you can stick it on walls or furniture. Kids seem to enjoy building in a direction opposite of gravity! 😅😅😅 HTH!!!

    • Sarah d

I agree that boys are so much harder than girls and I am always looking for ideas also! This year my 8yo son’s stocking will include some magic ink pens where you can only see a message when you shine the pen’s UV light on it and a bookmark that tracks how long you have read since he has to read 20 mins a night for school. Would love to hear what other ideas!

    • Shannon

Yes!! Please do ideas for BOYS stockings that would be great! The tween boy age is so hard. He doesn’t like toys and he’s too young for the men’s things! Toiletries are also not many at that age.

    • Kristen

Silly putty, tshirt, card game, slinky, glow stick…Michael’s has a ton of great, cheap ideas!

    • Michelle

Mad Libs, portable charger, small flashlight, card game….I’ve always done practical things, too, like toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear, socks, gloves. Younger kids like bandaids with their favorite character.

    • bellwalker

I don’t really spend that much on stockings. This year I’m giving my 7-year-old a LEGO Ninjago minifigure, a book, chapstick, and candy.

    • Vonda Borer

For boys, funny pattern duct tape (they make candy designs, characters – try Amazon!); instead of just flashlight, a headlamp. I find lots of stuff like that at Harbour Freight.

    • Mom Of 5

We do Pokémon card packs. I bought the tins from Target for $10 to break up. Other ideas are – Hot cocoa packets with marshmallows portioned out, microwave popcorn for movie night with a dvd, toothbrush, toothpaste, bubble bath, gift card, fruit, hand sanitizer

    • Mama

Thanks to all that gave great ideas for boys. I always add jerky and Pringles… these are favorite snacks.

    • Heather C

Here’s things I’ve done in the past for my 3 boys….Pokémon cards, single packs of hot wheels, whoppie cushions, movies, lego key chains, Christmas slime, lego mini figures, world market has a really fun selection of little toys that are perfect for boys stockings too!

      • Susan

Yes! You van get everything for stockings at World Market….not just the toys, slowly browse the entire store w an open mind! I got my son an ornament, a coffee mug perfect for him, funky nail clippers, and a ton of different snacks.

  3. lnk0813

How much do y’all generally spend on stocking stuffers?

    • Rebecca

Not this much lol. It’ll vary year by year, but for my boys this year, they’re each getting 2-3 action figures(Star Wars, Halo etc) that I get for $2-3 a piece, and a couple cheap ($1) candies. Maybe something else small if I happen to see it, but they’re always full & kids are happy. It’s not a main gift so I’m not trying to spend $50 on it. My husband & I are only doing stockings for each other this year(we don’t have anything we want or need) and we’ve put a $25 limit on it, although we could bump it up a bit. So far I’ve only got him nutcracker socks(he loves them), mini “pet peeves” notebooks and a cassette (yes a cassette lol) that he wanted for his car. A work in progress lol.

      • Michelle

At least $50 on each of my adult children (20 & 22). The stockings are their favorite thing and one of their main gifts. My husband and I only do stockings for each other. We spend between $50-75.

        • Susan

Same here! They have always been HUGE in our house, and I put a lot of time into them!

      • momof7

Awesome ideas for couples! I think I’ll tell my husband about this! Sounds fun!
I think I’ll put beg jerky in his, a good coffee we love, his favorite gum, and probably a couple other things.

        Thanks!

    • Lori

      Not $50, lol.

    • Elizabeth

I️ spend between $5 and $10 per child. Not including candy.

    • A

I probably average $40 a stocking. But I LOVE picking out stocking sized items and it always includes a gift card of at least $10. We budget all year for Christmas, so I don’t stress about it.

    • momof7

Not a lot! We always put fruit in ours along with a few other things and that’s what our kids like to eat while waiting for our breakfast casserole to be ready.

      • PaoPao

I love the idea of a piece of fruit in the stocking si they can read it right away! I always miss out on the fun because I’m in the kitchen getting breakfast ready. This would make them not terribly hungry!

        • Melissa

Don’t miss the fun! We buy easy breakfast foods for first thing in the morning, like heat and eat Jimmy Dean sandwiches. Then we do a brunch later.

    • Becky

My 4 kids each get candy, Christmas jammies, an ornament, and something fun like hot wheels. The jammies don’t fit in the stocking but then they get to wear them through the Christmas season. We do stockings for “St. Nick” although the kids know the gifts are from us. Just a fun tradition.

  4. kellymcarter

I like to do a theme stocking like Bath Time. I put in a character style/shaped body wash, bubble bath, bath time crayons, small bath toys, even glow sticks have been a big hit at bath time.

    • Michelle

      That’s a really cute idea!

  5. Amy R

I have 4 boys and when they were younger, we used baseball cards, travel size games, toothbrushes, hit wheels, McDonalds gift cards, magic tricks, whoopie cushions, hot cocoa mix, popcorn balls, and everyone always got a Pez dispenser. Hope these ideas help!

Oh, I always do stockings for $15 or less.

    • katie

      These are great ideas. Thanks!

  6. Catherine

Will Kohls card members get 30% off and free shipping again before the kohls cash expires?

  7. Rose

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welonlinee Rose!

  8. Jules

I bought claddaugh/ Celtic sterling silver rings at kohls.online for my teen and tween daughters. On sale for $18 from $45. Add the 25% off and 20% off fine jewelry codes and each ring was $10.80. They get great reviews as well.

  9. Vonda Borer

Kohls Cash question – pretty sure not – they’ve extended the 25% off thingy thru 12/9 I think…

  10. Mamabear

The juniors v-neck sweater rakes you to a gift basket sight.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Whoops! Thanks for catching! Just updated!

  11. Amie

    fun ideas. Thanks!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welonlinee! 😉

  12. Kate

Stocking can be so much fun for boys: yoyos, small legos, Gamesmith card games, gag gifts like whoopee cushions, stick on mustaches, anything that makes rude noises, Pop Rocks candy, magic tricks, Hexbugs, … For older tween to teens boxers with crazy design, good wool socks, pocket knife, batteries, new cords for cell phones, iTunes gift card or Steam gift card, hot sauce, carbineers, belt, dvds, …

    • Jennifer

“Anything that makes rude noises” 🤣🤣 Ain’t that the truth! Lol

  13. Marie

So glad to see Im not the only one that has a hard time with boy stocking stuffers ideas!!! Thank you! Stockings are a big deal in our house too! 😁

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welonlinee Marie!

  14. Jess

I need to be everyone’s kid that has onlinemented so far 😂. We used to get candy in our stocking and maybe some lip smackers lip gloss because my sister and I LOVED that stuff… but that was it. We got big gifts too, but no toys or anything large in a stocking.
I have a baby so she is fairly easy for right now… nothing in her stocking because she does not know the difference. But great ideas for the future if I need them.

  15. Klaire

We give each of our kids a box of sweet cereal – you could do the small boxes and divide. They don’t get it any other time of year and it’s one of their favorite things!!
