Have you seen the VERY popular LOL Surprise Ball?

They are basically really large plastic balls that have small collectible toys/dolls inside them, and they were priced around $70 during the 2017 Christmas season! Yes, for real — $70 ! 😮. In fact, when Collin did a Facebook live video with her daughter where they opened up the LOL Surprise Ball to reveal what you’re really getting for all that cash. Let’s just say she was pretty shocked at the price tag for what you truly get when you take away ALL. THE. PACKAGING.

As a funny/silly gift idea, I recently made a friend of mine a grown-up homemade adult version of the LOL Suprise Ball! 🤗 Haha! It’s filled with random treats like makeup, accessories, essential oils, a bath bomb, lotion, and other items to make my friend feel special. I couldn’t think of what to use for a perfectly round ball, so I bought a huge Easter egg from Amazon.online, and it worked out perfectly! I then used my Cricut machine to make some stickers, and it turned out to be a FUN way and CREATIVE way to gift a surprise!

DIY LOL Surprise Ball

When it onlinees to making this gift for family and friends, the beauty is how you can personalize them for the lucky recipients. The only requirement for this DIY LOL Suprise Ball is your creativity.

Supplies Needed:

Directions:

  • Collect little goodies such as nail polish, lip gloss, essential oils, jewelry, etc.
  • Cut and apply stickers to egg. (You could alternatively print lettering on paper and tape to surface.)
  • Individually wrap each item with paper like a real LOL Surprise, or use gift basket grass like I did.
  • Secure egg together and surprise someone!

I’d like to point out that these eggs can hold a lot of weight and are pretty sturdy!

I think this is a fun gift idea and can have so many different themes and possibilities. If you wanted to stick toys in there for a child, it’d be cute, too. And, of course, this would be a perfect surprise Easter gift during spring!

What would you put in your LOL Surprise Ball?

I have an 8 year old boy who is obsessed with Legos. I was looking at the Lego Boost for him for Christmas so I would love a toy review if you get the chance. It looks like you build a robot out of legos & then download an app that you use to control the robot. It looks neat but wondering if it’s worth the $150 price tag???

You have to be careful with the boost. It has to use the most updated version of iOS. Only the newest devices can handle it. Many people, I have read, are disappointed that after they buy the boost, their kid can’t even use it because their tablet is too old for it.

What an awesome idea!! I’d love to do this for everyone I buy Christmas gifts for! lol. I’m shocked at what’s inside of the LOL ball, nothing worth $70, you could buy a ton of dolls for that price!! I don’t get the big appeal. I’d much rather open an egg of awesome stuff vs tiny plastic things that would be lost in a day. Also great to fill with airplane sized liquor bottles and make a great adult Christmas gift!

      Thanks Sara !

I had no idea what an LOL ball was. I looked it up and it seems like a giant waste of packaging to me. Homemade version would be a lot more environmentally friendly.

    • Lina D

      Yes! I agree πŸ‘πŸ»

This sparked the perfect idea for my daughter! She loves watching the videos of people unwrapping the LOL surprise ball, and really wants one. I know however that the toys inside would hold little interest after being opened and $70 is too much for the enjoyment of opening all the surprise balls and discovering what is inside. This is the perfect idea to create my own. I can buy regular sized Easter eggs as well to put inside the big one and fill with my own surprise gifts inside. A little creativity with wrapping and it would be just as fun as opening the real thing, but a lot cheaper.

I’ve been trying to find that exact font with no success! What font did you use for the β€œLOL” sticker?

  7. Beccat

Love this cute idea! It can be easier to think of small gifts than big gifts for some people and this is the perfect way to onlinebine and present a bunch of small goodies as one larger gift!

This is AMAZING!! I’d take this anyday! So fun!

      Thanks Sara!

i love this idea. it’s the fried rice of couponing… let me ‘splain.
when there’s odds and ends of food that i don’t want to throw away, i chop them into small pieces and onlinebine them in a big batch of fried rice.
this can be the perfect way to use up odds and ends you find in couponing… fillers from walgreens, moneymakers that really aren’t your cup of tea, makeup that might not be your color, etc.

Loved this idea…until I saw the egg container was $17.99 (for 2)…would rather keep on individually wrapping little individual gifts and putting into dollar gift bags, or free boxes πŸ™‚

    Just an FYI…
Most of the single LOL dolls are about $10. The giant ball is a lot for little, but the more onlinemon LOL Surprise toys aren’t nearly as ridiculous.

The Christmas ornament is a great idea to use for sample size items!

Great idea! Thanks for sharing πŸ‘πŸ»
