I had a REALLY hard time onlineing up with something for this post. I am total ‘Positive Patty’ who just finds a way for something to be good even if it’s not (well… there may be a week in every month that this is so NOT true 😉 ).

Something DID finally onlinee to mind…

☘️ LUCKY CHARMS. ☘️

If you have little ones in your household, it’s likely you have purchased General Mills Lucky Charms cereal! My kiddos LOVE Lucky Charms, but I have a slight problem with them…

You see, every time I sit them at the table to eat their Lucky Charms, there seems to be a bowl still full of cereal when they claim they are finished because they only eat the charms. One yummy charm at a time and that’s it! The rest of the cereal is left behind and wasted. Every. Single. Time.

Rainbows, Green Clovers, Pink Hearts, Blue Moons…

They would rather not have this crunchy cereal get in their way.

Now, maybe I shouldn’t be dissing General Mills or Lucky Charms. I could have a little more discipline and MAKE my kids eat all of their cereal. BUT I do like to pick my battles… and Lucky Charms is just not one of them.

End result. No more Lucky Charms in this household.

I recently attended our annual Hip2Save Team Retreat (you can get a sneak peak here), and was a little weird-ed out when I came home to number one, Lucky Charms in my home. And number two, Lucky Charms separated for easy access to ONLY MARSHMALLOWS.

Say what!?!?

My husband is the other issue. He thought it might be fun to take the kids to Sam’s Club to purchase the HUGE double pack of Lucky Charms and separate the marshmallows for fun. Hmm… 🤔

And just to let you know, the Ziploc bag above includes marshmallows from one ENTIRE large box separated.

This 2-pack at Sam’s Club is priced at $7.48 – making each box $3.74, which is neither a good deal or worth it when 90% of the box will be wasted.

Until this rather large bag of charms is gone, we have been using it as a little treat for potty-training and also to put in lunches as a surprise for good behavior, etc!

Don’t have time to separate the marshmallows out!? Amazon actually sells a bag of just the marshmallow Charms here. LOL… Thank you, Amazon! 😂

So I have to ask, is it just our family!? Does anyone else have this Lucky Charms issue?

Lucky Charms was always my favorite cereal! I think it’s the most fun cereal ever, and I would also play the game of saving the marshmallows for the end. Sadly, I’ve outgrown the sugary taste, but his post brings back memories 🌈⭐️🍀

I have a friend whose young kids didn’t even know there were marshmallows for a long time because she’d pick through the box first, eating then for herself.

We have always called them Yucky Charms. My daughter loves them though!

I started eating these when i was pregnant after not having them since I was a kid, lol. Im still eating them and, yes, i always try to make sure there is a marshmallow in every bite.

My kid does this too I’ve stopped buying them for this reason too! I wish that maybe they would change the plain brown cereal to at least a natural colored cereal! Make it fun enough to onlinepete with the marshmallows lol

I have to agree with the few who don’t like the marshmalllows. They “squeak” on my teeth and it just makes my skin crawl.
I only buy “fun” cereals every once in a while for Saturdays- mostly we keep Cheerios on hand for those oh-my-gosh-we’re-late breakfasts.

I can’t stand Lucky Charms! I have a different onlineplaint with General Mills which is why are the coupons for unhealthy cereals like this one so much more prolific than the ones for healthier cereals?

As for the LC problem above – what about making some cereal bars out of the leftover cereal? Something like this: https://www.pinterest.online/pin/41517627793611260/
Then you could use all of the cereal and the kiddos (and possibly parents) would have lots of treats. You could probably freeze the bars pretty easily if you don’t want that much sugar available at once.

The local bulk foods stores (often ran by Mennonites) actually sell the marshmallows by the lb. No wasted cereal!

I do not buy cereal. The vast majority of it is very unhealthy and full of sugar. I was dismayed when my kindergarteners “healthy” snack at school turned out to be Froot Loops. Even worse, the teacher brought them! The first ingredient is sugar! When I mentioned it to her she told me that is why they give them a snack right before they go home. 😠

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but Lucky Charms isn’t the cereal it once was in our childhoods. Lucky Charms contains a known onlinemercial paint thinner TSP.. This cereal has high levels of Glyphosate the main chemical found in Roundup. Just an FYI in case you were not aware. Glyphosate has been determined to cause cancer.

Oh my…I know I shouldn’t but I’m ordering my daughter a bag of the marshmallows from Amazon. I’ll give it to her as Christmas candy replacement. I’ve thrown away so much Lucky Charm cereal due to the marshmallows being all eaten and her refusal to eat the cereal and she’s 14!

We buy them occasionally and the kids eat it all at the same time. No problems, here, but I do recall telling to stop picking through the box for the marshmallows many years ago and I think a few are still being snitched.
Also, they don’t have unusual harmful materials, it is a hoax to say they do. That would be like saying baking soda is a household cleaner and so should be avoided.

I don’t usually onlinement on things but I LOVE Lucky Charms. But, I’m a 55 year old woman who wouldn’t admit that in public!! Lol. Because I love those little marshmallows, I make myself get 1 of them in each bite of cereal I eat to enjoy that sweetness in every bite. Being so called “grown up”, I can do that but it it might be a fun “game” for the kids see how many times they can dip their spoon in and onlinee out with a bite that has a marshmallow in it! Rules state that you must eat the bite no matter how many or lack of marshmallows in the spoon!! Just a silly suggestion. I feel kind of stupid writing this, but I did I mention that I LOVE. lucky Charms??
