Sent from reader, Jackie:

I just wanted to thank you and the gals for what you do. With the Kohl’s cash I received from your Roomba deal the other day, I got all of these socks plus some Dollar Tree goods to donate to Hurricane Harvey victims. We have an awesome local moving onlinepany here on the Central Coast of CA who is driving their trucks with donations to Texas. It takes a village – thanks you guys!!!

Wow how awesome! Let’s hope the same support goes out to Florida. Prayers for FL and anywhere else Irma hits.

    Jackie , God Bless You.

I just spent the last 2 day boarding up homes. My moms and didn’t get to mine but hopefully will be ok since it’s not on the beachside. I’ve stayed and left with many of them but this one is 3 times worse than anything we have had. worried about now is getting stuck on the highway in the traffic while you’re trying to get out of the state. I just hope this one turns. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Bless your heart! That’s so sweet. My childhood home, my grandparents house was flooded to the roof. They’re both almost 80 and it’s just so devastating to start over at that age. All the support has been so amazing to see and certainly hasn’t been overlooked by the victims (my grandparents included).

  6. ish sidekick

It wouldve been helpful if u can show where we can donate to the truck some of us live on the central coast of California

    • Jackie

This was actually last Saturday that I donated, they stopped taking donations on Sunday so the trucks could head to TX. But, I know the Red Cross has a list on Amazon if items they need. You can order and have it shipped directly to them!

  7. Vivian

    That’s amazing Jackie!!

  8. Amy

Thank you so much. My grandfather and so many of my friends lost everything but it’s these acts of kindness that really put it all into perspective. We have each other, and our lives…we will be okay.

Hang in there Florida. Texas is ready to help any way we can.

That’s amazing! I love everyone’s giving heart for the Harvey victims and I’m praying for all in Florida. My family has property in west palm beach. They aren’t there right now but I’m thinking about everyone in fl!

Beautiful thing to do especially in these hard times. Many prayers and thoughts go out to everyone especially Florida during the hurricane. M

I know people want to help and sending items seems like a great way to do so but, often times “items” donated after a disaster end up going unused and eventually much of it gets thrown away or even burned. Cash donations are still the best way to make sure people get what they need in times like this without creating a burden for the folks on the ground. Take care!

    • Jackie

I hear ya, I had already made a cash donation but wanted to participate in this local (to me) movement also. They were working with a particular shelter and were only taking items on their wish list in new condition. Hopefully they do indeed go to use.

Please remember to check with your home owners insurance if you are under a mandatory evacuation because our insurance through USAA will pay for gas, hotel and food up to two weeks. It is worth a call to see if your insurance does it as well.

My daughter is collecting soccer gear for Harvey impacted kids, her facebook is @cleats4katy. She had some Kohl’s cash donated to her by a family friend so she took it to the kiosk in store and ordered brand new balls! Who knew Kohl’s sold soccer balls??!! I thought it was a clever way to use the Kohls cash for her donation drive. If anyone out there has Kohl’s cash they arent using, contact her! [email protected]
