   How warm are their coats? Does anyone know. My son’s in need of a spare winter coat. We’re in Maine, so we get a lot of snow and really cold temperatures, so I want to make sure that it will keep him move warm this winter.

  I use Lands End coats on my kids and we live in northern Iowa (cold and snow!). I’m also from where the Lands End headquarters are in WI… I grew up on their coats!

  They have a warm rating, something like warm, warmer, warmest. My son just got his third expedition coat in the mail yesterday and it’s rated warmest. The quality is very high, and we have always gotten at least 2 years out of each size.

   The Stormer jackets are thinner. We live in Michigan, and use them as a fall/spring jacket, but I buy the Squall parkas for winter. They are nice quality.

   I live outside of Chicago and we use these for myself and the kids. On -20 windchill days they wear them with snow bibs and a long sleeve shirt and are fine.

   Get a Squall jacket if you need a warm one to last multiple seasons & kids. The Stormer jacket is thinner, lighter and the fabric isn’t as sturdy.

   DO NOT get the stormer if you live in New England. Mine were cold last winter. Get the squall- wind and waterproof.

   The warmer rating is more than warm enough for South Carolina, temps usually don’t get below 20s much. I love Lands End coats! My daughter is 5 and has been using her coat and raincoat since she was 2 (I bought them in Jan 2014 when posted on hip2save) and she has used them both constantly, they’ve been washed a ton and they both look brand new! She’s finally outgrown them, so I bought new ones for her and for my son just now.
