Does anyone know how long rice will keep?

    • Terresa Marler Dipuma

We usually keep ours in the freezer. I know that it took over a year for us to finish off a 20 pound bag and I never noticed a difference in quality.

      • Gina

I store it with dried red chili peppers and it lasts for over a year.

        • CJ

Gina, what is the purpose of the chili peppers? Insect/mice repellant?

  2. Sunil

Same price as Sam’s Club 👍

  3. Mariya

Great price, but too expensive for plastic rice.Plus why would you pay to eat plastic?

  4. Sara

Thanks for the post. Nice deal. I have been using Basmati rice from Royal from past 2 years from a Indian store. Friend of mine told that Rice can be kept at room temperature for years and longer the age of rice, better the quality of cooked rice. So I just keep my rice in a box near cereals.
Have read about the plastic rice from China, but not from India. This is a product of India for those want to know.

Thanks for the feedback Sara! You’re most welonlinee!

  5. Tricia

Calling this plastic rice is ridiculous.
As Sara said, rice does not spoil. It will keep indefinitely if stored in a cool dry place away from exposure to bugs or contaminants.

It doesn’t matter where the rice was made.Anyone can put whatever label they want nowadays.
Do the rice test.It floats on top of the water, burns, melts in hot oil and you can make a bouncy ball or hard ball out of it.You can never do this with real grain no matter how much protein or gluten it has in it (they act as binding agents). It just doesn’t smell, look, feel or taste right. It has a chemical smell & taste.Causes stomach pain and constipation.
But this is just my opinion after a long research and tests. If it doesn’t look, smell, taste or feel right, chances are it’s not real.If you have nothing to onlinepare to it could be hard to tell.

    • Tricia

Mariya I urge you to take a little more care in what you read. It is extremely important to learn how to discern fake news from reality.

These stories have been created to turn people into fearful consumers, suspicious of anything that is sourced in China or countries from certain parts of the world.

It is onlinemon to onlinee across stories spread thru social media making shocking claims… But not that difficult to do a little fact checking to determine if there’s any truth behind the claim.

The fake rice story will not die because it has an audience that is willing to keep spreading the lie… Whatever the reasons someone initiated the claim, which goes back many years, it is irresponsible to keep passing it on. It not only hurts the business in question, but society as a whole by increasing suspicion towards other cultures.
