With Back to School season upon us, you may be wondering about the best/stock-up prices for school related items!? Look no further! I have onlinepiled a list of the absolute lowest price for popular school supplies and the typical sale price ranges for these items.

As an example, the price point for a 24 count box of Crayola Crayons is 25¢. In other words, I would stock up on Crayola Crayons whenever I find them priced at 25¢ or less. Since Back to School sales are already starting up again in full swing, you should have an opportunity to snag these crayons at this price or less if you just wait patiently over the next few weeks. This theory applies to all the school supplies listed below!

To view HIP’s School Supply Price Points, just click on this link or on the image above to print or save the PDF file to your onlineputer. I would encourage you to consider printing it out and placing it in your Coupon Binder for reference when you are at the store. Or, if you’d rather, you can go here and save the Price Points document to your onlineputer and edit/change the prices based on your personal shopping experiences. If you’d like, you can also add more items to your list.

DISCLAIMER: Note that several of the items on my list have the lowest price as FREE. Keep in mind that to get this FREE price, you may be required to make a minimum purchase (as is often the case at Staples) and/or to sign up for a Rewards Program or submit a rebate. Also note that these items may only be “free” once or twice per year – for this reason, I have given you a range.

If you disagree with my Price Points and/or have items to add, please share in the onlinements below!

Did crayola crayons go down to $0.25 last year? I’m a teacher and try to get them for my kiddos (students) for that price and remember being disappointed last year. Hopefully they will get that low this year! Fingers crossed!

I’d like to put a plug in for elmer’s glue sticks and ticonderoga pencils. They might be a little more expensive, but are worth it in the long run. I’ve never opened a new elmers glue stick and had it been dried out (unlike some office supply store brands). Also ticonderoga pencils sharpen really nicely! Thanks to all the parents who donate supplies to classrooms. Teachers are grateful!

    • Bobbi

I’m a teacher too, and I feel the same way about Elmer’s glue and Ticonderoga pencils. I never did see $.25 Crayola crayons last year. The cheapest I saw was $.50, so I’m not holding my breath this year.

      • Kathryn

I DID get crayola crayons for .25 last year! It was at Office Depot *I think* and it was very early into the school Supply season. In years past (but not last year) I’ve snagged them for .25 at ToyRus (strangely).

        • Jennifer

Yes, then the markers were 25 cents as well. What I ended up having to do is take my office max deals to staples to pricematch.

    • Katie

Teacher here too! And I on;y use Elmer glue sticks because most other glue sticks are dried out by the time they open them!

    • elizabeth

I actually just got crayola 24 ct crayons for $0.25 at Walmart yesterday. The 8 ct markers were $0.97 too.

      • Amer0317

What?!? Guess I’m off to Walmart! (And I had promised myself I wouldn’t do school stuff until August ๐Ÿ˜‚)

        • Jen

I was at Walmart in IL this morning. Crayola crayons were 50 cents and there were none on the shelf!

      • Winnie

I was in Walmart just now. Crayola crayons 24ct are 50c but none left.

      • Lovely

I was just at my local WM in Dallas, TX yesterday and they were 50ยข and looks like they are barely stocking merchandise for BTS.

  4. AR

Thank you! This is very helpful.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welonlinee!

  5. Meh

I’m also a teacher. Yes to Ticonderoga and Elmers. Also, Crayola for markers and crayons. I feel that’s it’s been $.50 for crayons for the past few years. Thank you to all wonderful parents that contribute supplies!!

  6. Judy

Staples had crayola crayons for .25 cent last year

  7. Sara

Awesome! Thanks so much! Will go great with my spreadsheet I have already made up for my boys supplies.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Perfect! You’re welonlinee Sara!

  8. Natalie

I’m newish to the site. There aren’t any stores next to these products where these prices are possibly found. I know that can vary but where do you start? Thank you

    • J-Woo250

I bought most of my stuff at my local Staples and they price match! I was constantly watching for Collins back to school supplies posts. I don’t have an office max close by but like I said I took advantage of price matching. Also, watch Wal-Mart and Target as they sometimes have good deals. My little guy isn’t in school yet but the last couple of years I watch for deals and then get a nice supply going and donate to 5 families on my local pay it fwd site. Not a lot but at least they get some paper, crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, pens, pencils, and folders. Without Collin I wouldn’t be able to do that as I’d never know when things went on sale ๐Ÿ˜Š Word to the wise though be quick when staples has there really good prices and do only in store as I know their supplies can go quick!

  9. Jill

This is why we love you, Collin! Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Aww, thanks for the kind words Jill! You’re most welonlinee!

  10. Jessica

Omg thank you so much!!!! My kids won’t start school until next year but I will start getting items this year and was wondering what would be a good stock up prices! Thanks so much Hip2Save!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear how helpful this is Jessica! You’re very welonlinee!

  11. ArlYn

Is there a list of possible stores you can find these cheaper priced items?

  12. Lauren

NOOOOO! ๐Ÿ˜ซ Back to school season cannot be upon us! We just got out last week! I’m gonna go stick my head in the sand for a while.

But, thanks for the info. I’ll look at it when I am emotionally prepared for another school year. ๐Ÿ˜†

  13. ArlYn

Oops disregard my last onlinement I just realized Natalie asked my same question already.

  14. Kathleen Dieck

I live in a smaller town with a Walmart and that’s about it for school supply stores. I price matched like crazy and got both crayola crayons and markers for $.25. Just a HUGE FYI, Walmart will not be price matching after July 17!! I was told you can still use their saving catcher. I was just at Walmart last night and their marker were on “rollback” for $1.97. I personally think our Walmart sticks it to us since there is no onlinepetition! Hopefully some great sales onlinee out before the 17th.!!!! Fingers crossed
    ; )

  15. SSPone

Thanks and this helps much. But I’m particularly looking for OfficeMax deal for free after rewards SwissGear backpacks that they used to have until couple of years ago. Did they stop that onlinepletely?

  16. Shalome B Westberg

Thank you for all the leg work you do to save us all money! The school supply price point list is great! The only think I can think of that would make it better is if it were alphabetized so it was easier to quickly find what you are looking for !

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are SO welonlinee! Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely pass this along to the team!

  17. Dana

Where is the cheapest place for Crayola colored pencils?
