  1. Tyna

I definitely will be making some! But just to make sure I understood, you spray in the water(toilet)? Lol

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Yes spray the water inside toilet. πŸ‘πŸ»

  2. Tyna

    Got it! Thanks😊

  3. Gina

This is great! My daughter got me some for Christmas last year. The scent of floral was called “number 2”. Hysterical!! Lol

  4. Mourrene

Are you using 25 drops of each oil? Or 25 drops total?

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      No 25 total
You can use 25 of the same oil or mix a few…

      • Mourrene

        Thank you! 😊

  5. gilly

You can spray air freshener directly into the toilet

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Oh good idea! Thanks for sharing.

    • Heather C

Not actually air freshener, you do you spray it directly into the toilet. Before you go. It’s toilet freshener so there is no air smell πŸ˜›

    • nydia

For those of us who are sensitive to the chemicals in air fresheners or just like to avoid artificial scents that can cause harm, this is the only stuff allowed in my house. I’ve been making my own for years. So simple, inexpensive and a much greener alternative to onlinemercial air fresheners. Less waste too!

    • Mary

Air freshener doesn’t have the ingredients to work the same way this poo pourri does.

  6. Heather C

It WORKS amazingly. In place of the alcohol I use witch hazel. I do Magent they are similar in their functionality

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Oh thanks for idea! πŸ‘

  7. Taw chy

Thank you so much it was getting expensive buying it on line. Everyone I give a bottle they love it.

  8. Amanda

Newsflash! Everyone knows everyone poops, but not everyone wants everybody to know exactly when! There’s also this little thing called consideration for others, especially if people only have one bathroom.

    • Sarah

Agreed Amanda- a little courtesy goes a long way! πŸ˜‰

      • Jen

Exactly, nobody wants to smell your poop, same way I doubt you would want to smell anyone elses’. It’s no the poop itself that’s embarrassing and discourteous, it’s just the smell.
Also another issue and reason to buy this: DYI poopouri like this is a must have for my house, because although we have more than one bathroom,, the one that the teenager in our house uses smells like outright DEATH after he does a BM…. I’m not even exaggerating, imagine the normal stink of a just pooped in bathroom, and magnify that stench by 10!…it’s so bad that we consulted his doctor about it….and so strong that it seeps through the cracks of the doorS (the bathroom connects to two bedrooms) and you can smell it in the entire connecting bedrooms for hours afterwards….so yea…..needless to say, that’s disgusting and nobody should have to tolerate it if the problem can be resolved with about 1 cent every flush.

        • Christine

I so feel your pain!!! My daughter has such a smell in her BM it just lingers all over the house, she can be out and will rush home so she can use the bath room, I ask her why do you have to always bring that here, why can’t you do that where you are????? So I’m the one that has to suffer for it, I have to literally hold my breath if I have to go in after her. I’ve been checking out the Air Wick onlinemercials about VIPoo but just saying to myself that is just something else they want people to spend money on and it does not work, never thought about checking the reviews on it but since I do have all the ingredients here I will give this a try.

          • Jen

It does work… even for the lethal pooper lol. The only thing I usually do different is add a little glycerine. I think the thickness of it traps the smell in the water a little better, but I’m sure it probably still works without it.

            • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

I’m trying this next time! Thanks for the info Jen πŸ‘

            • Amy

Jen, you had me laughing so hard…. for the lethal pooper. I love it! Great sense of humor. I am making these for gifts this year. My family loves silly things like this.

      • SJ

        Seriously…grow up…

    • SJ

      Grow up!

      • jodi p

        You, first.

        • SJ

That’s the best you have? So immature.

          • Amanda

You are so obviously one of those ‘pick a fight behind your phone/onlineputer’ people. Very sad. I really hope your life improves, so you don’t feel the need to do that. All the best.

  9. Errrrr

I think “Poo-pourri” is a registered trademark, so using that on homemade labels is trademark infringement. Just FYI.

    • Erin

      That’s what I was thinking.

    • Diane

      Maybe call it poop-pourri instead?!

      • jodi p

        Loo-pourri!

        • MaryO'D

          Perfect!

  10. Shannon

Love it! So funny and useful. I can think of a few times where I went into the bathroom and wished the person before me used this!!

  11. kharrington

Could someone please tell me if I can use any oil? Or does it have to be essential oil? Like I have bath and body oil that you just add a few drops to your bath or something.

    • Erin

It won’t work the same. Essential oils are very strong/fragrant. Bath oils aren’t anywhere near as strong.

  12. Dolly

Yes me too..i have a small camper and my husband and i will love it! Keep the great ideas onlineing…

  13. Sarah

Thank you! My boys have some that’s called poo-tin spray…something that’s a must for our bathroom off our kitchen!!

  14. Rocky

You can also add a little bit of glycerin to the mixture to help block better the odor

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Thanks for that suggestion!

    • Angel

      Where do I buy glycerine?

  15. Jackie

This is great! Thank you so much. And the labels are super cute. I will for sure make this

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Thanks for stopping by Jackie!

      • Errrrr

DIsappointed that you are infringing someone’s else’s intellectual property and are encouraging others to do the same by making your homemade labels available for print

        • Jennifer

Seriously? Some people on here just look for something to onlineplain about and overlook the entire goodness of the post itself. I’m so glad most onlinementers aren’t like this.

        • Lindsey

Have you ever been on Pinterest? There are things like this all over there and people are constantly doing DIY versions of products for sale.

        • Holly

          Wow.

        • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Hi there – Thanks for your feedback. This is just meant to be a homemade version or DIY gift idea. We did just update the labels with a different name! Thanks!

  16. MaaMaaBear

Where did you get those cool blue bottles?

    • JenniferS

I’m sure you can find them online. I do know that Sprouts Farmers Market stores carries these blue bottles near the essential oils.

    • Debbie

there is a link for the pretty blue bottles in this post they are on amazon 6 for $12,00

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Yes the ones I have from this post are linked above in supplies list πŸ˜€ – thanks

      • Mourrene

Do the bottles have to be glass? I checked my poo-pouri bottle (the onlinemercial kind) bottle and it was plastic…but I wasn’t sure if the type of bottle matters.

        • Steph

The bottles need to be glass or metal or a pet 4 plastic. Essential oils will eat through most plastics.

  17. Lin

Where do you buy the essential oils inexpensively? I would like to try this!

    • D

Home goods, tj maxx, marshalls all have them…starting around 3 or 4 bucks.

    • Steph

Plant Therapy and Eden’s Garden have high quality essential oils for a great price with free shipping. They share their GCMS reports to prove quality/purity of their oils. I reonlinemend them if you want to use your oils for other things (sunburn, face cream, body scrubs, diffusing, inhalers, etc.) Be careful and research your brands. The oils at Walmart and many other retail stores are not what they’re cracked up to be; however, you do not have to pay outrageous MLM sales prices to get quality oils. Besides Plant Therapy and Eden’s Garden, you can find quality oils at your health food store (Aura Cacia, Now).

  18. Wendy Smith

What are the dimensions of the labels?

  19. emulvey2001

Is there a reason why distilled water is used? Does regular water affect the oils somehow? Just trying to avoid the expense of buying it or having to boil/cool water that’s just going to be sprayed into my toilet. πŸ˜‰

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

From what I’ve read mold can grow very quickly if not using distilled when making homemade sprays with essential oils.

  20. Lynn Brown

It’s sad that someone would get on this AMAZING site just to post Negative onlinements… Why would you be reading the onlinements if your so worried about somebody doing something wrong. This site isn’t about that these ladies work really hard to keep everybody up to date on the latest sales, projects etc. I’ve been following them for several years and have saved so much money. Not a day goes by that I’m not checking in both of my daughters are now big hip2save fans also. Keep up the great work ladies.

  21. MissSchultz

This is great! Is there an alternative to the rubbing alcohol so i don’t have to buy a whole bottle for the 1Tbs? Can you use Hydrogen Peroxide? Thank you

    • S

You can use alcohol, witch hazle, or vodka. The reason you need to use these is so the oil will mix with the water.

  22. Bev

Can you use an eye dropper bottle?

  23. Elissa

Are the labels set for a certain size sticker or would they fit on the normal address label sheet

    • Donna

Jane, I makeToilet Tabs for just that reason. They work great. Flush and then drop one in the toilet and viola! Smells are gone!

      • Jenn

With the #2 spray, you are supposed to spray the water before the real #2 takes place. The oil fragrance on the water surface helps trap the odors before flushing.

  24. Jane

It would be great if these came in some sort of a tablet form, that i could carry in my pocket and then just drop one in before i go πŸ™‚

  25. JayC

It doesn’t matter what you print on your label. Create that way and decorate till your little heart is content, ladies ! If you are using it for your own personal use in your personal and private household, copywrite infringement does not apply to you. You will want any products you are giving as gifts labeled differently, though. Perhaps, you can label it as your name’s version of : poo-pourri.. something of that nature… Or call it a natural form of… Anyway, copywrite infringement does not present a concern until you are profiting. Sorry to say, this is a neat little board/ forum of cool suggestions and product reviews that is being consumed by that know it all Debbie do gooder that has to spoil things for everyone. I paid attention in law school that day so, it’s safe to say… Errr, take it elsewhere. These ladies don’t need your lecture. They just need a coupon or two and Jane check on Amazon ! Just search VI Poo. It’ll show you a bunch of different stuff. I just ordered some tablets.

  26. Franchesa McLean

If you are using the 2oz spray bottle does the ingredients stay the same or do I adjust?

  27. Cathy

My daughter has Crohn’s. I just shared this on our Facebook pediatric support group. I can see a few of us making this.

  28. Melanie Grossey

Hello! I saw your poo pourri spray on Pinterest : ) I went to print out your cute labels and realized they just state #2 Spray. However, on the picture affiliated with the link on Pinterest it shows a very similar looking label that says “Poo Pourri- spray before you go and no one will know.” I was just wondering if you still have that printable available?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi there! The label was changed and we no longer have that one available. We will update the Pinterest image! Thanks so much for pointing that out!

  29. Shannon

What type of sticker paper did you use? Ordering supplies today!

  30. Susan

Merry Christmas! I should have read your post a little closer. I made 4 two-ounce bottles and 3 8-ounce bottles for presents. I used an essential oil called Angel Heart and two small bottles using rose. They smell amazing! Now the bad news. My husband bought colored PLASTIC bottles. I’m hoping they hold up and are used fast. Thank you for sharing this. It’s great! πŸŽ… πŸŽ„

  31. Vicky

I love your spray! I am ready to print out the labels. Would I need able to edit the label (for my use) and add instructions for use on it similar to what you had on your original label (but not copying the Poo-Pourri label)? Thanks so much!

  32. Vicky Mendez

I live your spray and am ready to print out labels. Are the labels editable? I’d like to add directions for use on it. Thanks!

  33. Francine Foley

Do you have to use distilled water

  34. Jane

Just made this today to take along on a girls camping getaway in a couple days…..5 of us sharing a trailer so if there’s no time to get to the park restroom we won’t have to worry about having to air the place out in a hurry lol. And the door to the washroom is right beside the fridge so – yeah that is not a pleasant outonlinee! This will be a game changer for us – thank you for this great DIY!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh sure! Good luck and have fun!

  35. Shirley Yeo

Thank you Lina! πŸ™‚ I have read if you don’t want to buy distilled water, you can boil water and let it cool and then use it. Just a thought to save some moola! πŸ™‚
