  It’s an instant read… for candy I prefer a clip on thermometer which will show the gradual increase in temperature. If you can afford it, go for the thermoworks brand. You will never need to buy another one for at least a decade.

  I don’t know about this one, but I have used my thermopen instant read successfully. Although it’s not ideal.

  Yes, it works. not only for yogurt. It is perfect for BBQ, oven roasts, tea, coffee, baking, soup, frying, beer, baby milk or bath water.
