   This is silly, but I’m almost in tears over this deal. It’s a long story, but our babies have to have this formula regardless of if they have a milk allergy or not. I couldn’t breastfeed my first and would spend hours checking the local classifieds to find people selling unopened cans of this formula – then drive all over the state picking up formula that I thoroughly inspected, but prayed hadn’t been tampered with, because it was just too stinking expensive to buy from the store. 🙁 (Some people’s insurance pays for their babies to have this special formula and then they sell any excess when they’re done formula feeding.)

   I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with our second and have no idea if I’ll be able to breastfeed this go around. I was just lamenting to my husband last week that I had no time or energy to seek out a beginning stash of this formula and then go traipsing all over to pick it up. I already was at 15% on my S&S, so this deal is only pennies more than I usually pay, buying from individuals! And I don’t have to leave my home or worry at all about its safety!! Thank you.   I know your pain too girl. My first had no issues. My second was on nutramigen at two months, bc I had to quit breastfeeding, which broke my heart. It’s so expensive. I get so excited with these Amazon deals. Much love.

  Oh and always always ask your ped for sample cans, EVERY TIME you visit the ped for anything. They help a lot!!!

  I feel for you Morgan- it’s sad allergenic formula is so expensive and usually excluded from deals and sales (for example the Babies R Us sale on now).
  We are on Alimentum with our second baby with a milk protein allergy. It costs us almost $400 a month and she’s only 8 weeks. Insurance won’t cover it.
  We lived in Canada for our first baby and the government paid for it and delivered it to our home.

  Morgan, I’m sure you’ve already looked at all of the options, but just wanted to give you some other ideas. 1) Go on Amazon and search for “hypoallergenic formulas” merely to get an idea of the other options, so you can discuss them with your pediatrician 2) Contact the onlinepany and discuss the financial burden, because they may give you some samples (your pediatrician might, too) and coupons 3) Is WIC a possibility? 4) Ask the nurses at the hospital where you’ll be delivering to put you in touch with the formula onlinepany representative—-at my hospital, they often give moms a case of formula in special circumstances 5) If you can’t breastfeed, would you be willing to get breastmilk from a milk bank? In my state, we have a central milk bank in the capital city that screens donors and ultra-pasteurizes the milk. My state also helps subsidize the cost of donor breastmilk for families whose insurance onlinepanies won’t pay for it (many insurance onlinepanies WILL, however, if there is a medical need). Not all states do, however.

  I totally understand your pain! My baby had to move from breastfeeding (even though I eliminated most foods out of my diet, but that’s a whole other story) to hypoallergenic formula (Neocate) at 6 months. It was awful, and I had such sticker shock! I’d never bought formula before, and to find out that it was $44 for a four day supply!

  I begged for samples from our pediatrician, who was able to order “pediatric samples” directly from the manufacturer. Since it was a specialty formula that they don’t normally keep in their office, she just gave me all 16 cans that the onlinepany had sent. It’s worth at least asking your ped! Good luck 🙂

  Not silly at all!! My last 2 babies had to have this formula, they both had green frothy poops with blood in them. I went off dairy and tried to continue to nurse them. My son was failure to thrive and needed it. Luckily we only had to supplement, but with 6 people on one inonlinee it was hard to afford. Sign up for Similac checks, enfamil etc. I had a few gals from the library that gave me their checks. Baby center has a coupon trading board, people are always offering the enfamil checks for trade. I also contacted enfamil and explained our situation. They were so kind to send several checks specific for nutramigen. This was 4 years ago, I’m not sure if stores still do not check the name on the checks. But the baby center board should provide you with that info. It’s always worth a shot!   We aren’t even close to qualifying for WIC. The cost of this formula is just so dang high that even on a fairly average inonlinee, it’s kind of a burden!

  The inonlinee guidelines change yearly. Regardless of inonlinee, if your infant is on Medicaid, infant will be adjunctively elegible for the inonlinee.

  Also be sure to challenge your insurance onlinepany. Both of my daughters had acid reflux and needed to be on Enfamil A.R. The insurance said the wouldn’t cover it, we appealed, they declined again, my pediatrician wrote a personal letter describing the importance of the formula and the babies weight loss. They finally approved. It is a battle but, one that might save you thousands of dollars in formula. Also, our doctors office always gave us containers that they had in stock. Keep your head up because you are doing your best to keep your baby healthy and happy!

  **hugs** My oldest was on nutramigen after having severe reflux (even with breast milk). My youngest has no problems and is still currently nursing at 16 months. There is hope!

   I was trying to supplement with formula since working full time it was difficult to pump. When I introduced formula my son did not do well. I felt horrible and was told to introduce this formula to him. I decided to try again and it worked. His pediatrician gave us samples and we found some on clearance at Buy Buy Baby. Since the formula would expire in a month they put it in clearance. Also ask for formula coupons and it can be used towards this formula.

   I’m right there with you. My son had to use Nutramigen and now my daughter. Just wanted to mention that with Target’s $20 gift card with $125 purchase, I was able to get my cost per can to about $20 which still sucks but is something. This is for the regular size cans. She’s on Nutramigen Toddler (Lord help me), it was 5 cans at $24.99 plus I added a 10 count of Honest wipes for 84 cents (wipes are 10% off with store pick up) and I had 5% redcard. And…for some wonderful reason Ebates worked on this purchase.

   Wishing everyone’s children outgrown allergies!!!!

   A few tips for the nutramagin savings…..check with your dr for samples, if they don’t offer or have any another way to save is signing up for cvs email coupons you can use the % off and extracare coupons for toddler formula that you print on nutramagin and also rewards bucks. Sometimes i have to check a few cvs stores to find a couple cans at once but you can check availability at each store for nutramagin on their website just pull up the product and type in zip code. I have saved a lot this way. Also sign up for the nutramagin rebates on the website specific for nutramagin. they will mail you checks when you submit receipts and labels. There are Lots of ways to save. It’s such an expensive formula…my toddler is still on it and we are trying to switch him….we are going to try hemp milk this week and see if he can handle it.    You can sign up for coupons and rebates at Nutramigen.online

   You can buy it when it’s on sale the formula and use the coupon checks & send in a rebate to save more. Or when CVS has their 30-20% off regular price items. Stock up then and use all your coupons checks and CVS bucks. That’s where I buy most my formulas.

   Also you can look on eBay for cheaper formula. I have bought a few times. It’s safe and PayPal and eBay guarantee refunds.
