   Was going to buy the Applebee’s card but it’s trying to charge me $2.62 tax. I’ve never paid tax on a gift card.

  It’s illegal in many states for them to collect sales tax on the sales of gift cards. I just bought one, paid the tax & sent them an email demanding a refund of the amount of the tax. Still pretty ridiculous they can’t (or won’t) tell their site not to charge tax on certain categories of products.
