Download the Colorscape app to create your own coloring pages!
Although there are likely several ways to aconlineplish this, I recently discovered a free app called Colorscape available for both iPhones and iPads.
This app does a great job of turning photos into coloring pages instantly and I was amazed by the quality of the picture pages we created!
Check out this FREE app in the Apple App Store or on Google Play!
Are you a visual learner? I made a video to show how easy the process is to take a fave photo and turn it into a coloring page!
All you do is pick a photo from your camera and the app creates the coloring page image and lets you save it or share it. I then emailed the image to myself and was able to print each image out on paper.
What to make with customized coloring pages created with the Colorscape App?
I printed out a few pages and took them to Staples to have them bound together into a booklet. Such a cute gift idea and a great way to utilize special family pictures!
Here are a few resources to make your very own custom coloring book:
- Create a coloring book by binding at home with this DIY product on Bluprint.
- Have a spiral or paperback booklet printed at Office Depot.
- Order a saddle-stiched booklet by uploading images to Printivity.
Homemade coloring pages make great gifts!
These booklets are perfect to make for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or a birthday! You can also have your child’s special artwork framed to display around your home or give it to a loved one.
Tips for making your own Colorscape coloring pages:
- Use colored pencils or pastel color sticks so the outline of the pictures is still prominent.
- Avoid choosing images with people wearing sunglasses, they print kinda funky looking!
- Choose images with good clarity and sharpness so they don’t look distorted after you print them.

My kids thought this activity was so fun! They even asked if they could mail their colored memories to their distant cousins. If you’re looking for cool, free art activities for your little ones, you’ve got to try Colorscape coloring at home!
