    Hello!

Slightly unrelated to this post, I did want to mention something called “person-first language” since it is a topic near and dear to my heart.

When we say things like “special needs kids” or “autistic kids”, we are putting their condition ahead of the person. We don’t say “cancer kid” do we? 🙂 It’s a small thing that can make a big difference in the lives of a child (or an adult) with any kind of special need or disability.

    THANK YOU! 🙂

    Signed,

Mom of a kid with Down syndrome.

We appreciate your onlinement and absolutely agree. We try to use the authentic language provided by the charity, this happened to be the way they described the children. Going forward we will take your point in to consideration and see if we can ask charities to reword how they identify the people in need. Thank you for your feedback!
