I have to admit, Staple’s is my favorite of these types of stores. I still cannot believe I got a free backpack and almost free boxes of paper to print coupons on!

    Hi Collin,
Thanks so much for the many ways you help us save money.
If I remember correctly, Staples will deduct a portion or your rebate for using rewards or gift cards. Does anyone know if the same thing happens when you use a $5/$50 coupon?

    • DEREK

I think it varies on how they record it on the receipt–one time I used a $5 off $50 and they applied it as a price match discount and my rebate was affected. Another time, however, I got the full rebates for everything if they applied it as a general discount (these were both done via easy rebate). Maybe it varies though, but that’s just my experience.

  3. Mouni

Mitch, did you get your gift card from the free backpack promotion? I checked the status online for mine and it’s been saying that it was sent for more than a week but didn’t get anything.
Thanks a lot , Collin. You’re doing an amazing job and saving us a lot of money in the process. 🙂

    • Bonnie

Mouni, we received our Staples Gift Card yesterday in the mail. It took almost two weeks to receive after the status showed being sent. You should get yours soon!

      • DEREK

I got my rebate card on Thursday–and I submitted it on that Sunday the sale started, so if you did it immediately it should be on the way as we speak!

    • vanessa

      I received mine yesterday.
Totally off topic but did anyone receive their rebate for the Office Depot free stapler in July?

      • Kristy

I didn’t get to do the free stapler, they were sold out, but I did do two other rebates and I have not recieved those yet. ( same week)

  4. Elizabeth

I just got my gift card from the free backpack promotion the other day. I’m still waiting for my rebate checks for the pens I bought….

Think I’ll use the gift card to get a paper shredder for all of our “junk” mail.

    • Vickie Jones

My gift card came yesterday, great timing, DS wants a laptop sleeve (50% off ) and I need the USB hub and DH needs the USP keypad, so the gift card and $5 coupon will be put to great use for our household of 3 students and one teacher

  5. Wendy

Got my back pack card in the mail today….:)

Is one of the 1 cent deals for teachers with a limit of 20? I hope the glue!!!!! The person who made my supply list for my class forgot glue!!!!! Do not need anymore pens!!! Ugh!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have always been able to get all the 20 for the 1 cent deals with my teacher card, so you should be able to get the glue!

  6. jlang

Staples rebates really are EASY! I was also able to switch from a prepaid visa to a rebate check with no penalty!

  7. sarah

I got a “sneak peek” email from staples yesterday and they are also featuring some instant savings deals on printer ink (for all the coupons we print!) I think it is… spend $40 and save $10 instantly or spend $80 and save $20 instantly. This is pretty good for me, because a onlinebo pack of ink for my printer is $31 normally.

  8. lmhori

got the sunday preview paper today and found a coupon for $2 off any hammermill paper in smartsource…moneymaker! 🙂

    • Amy

I wondering about that……….If we use the $2 off coupon, will we receive the full rebate amount? Anyone know??? Thanks!

      • Nathalie

The Hammermill coupons are manufacturer coupons and Staples will be reimbursed for the value of the coupons so we should get the full amount returned from the rebate.

  9. Garagedealz

I just got back from my Staples trip a little dissapointed. Where did you find the $0.01 & $0.50 deals listed? In an ad? Nothing listed for a penny or 50 cents. I got the staples school glue which was listed 69 cents but rang up 99 cents, the cashier corrected it bc I showed him the sign but where did you see it for a penny? I took my FriXon coupons but they only had the 3 pack, no sign for a 2 pack anywhere, and the 3 pack was $5. I didn’t find where the tape dispensers were 50 cents and the 7″ Wescott Scissors were on sale for $5, not the listed 50 cents. So please let me know where you found your prices so I maybe can take it in and get those prices too. It was not a onlineplete loss as I snagged 2 packs of copy paper & 2 packs of the photo paper and the calculator which all have the easy rebates but was really hoping to use the whole deal scenario. Thanks! =D

    • ali

Yeah, I just found out that my area doesn’t have all of the sales going on either. This is the first time that the ad I got for my Staples didn’t match up with the one from Hip2Save. I am so bummed…You can go to Staples.online and look up the weekly ad for your store and see how it differs from the one she is doing the match-ups for. I looked at one from Chicago, IL and saw all of the good deals and was super jealous!!

    • Leslie

Same thing happened here today in Indy…I also had the same problem in Office Max

  10. @MommyShares

I was told by an associate at Staples that I could only do 2 rebates for copy paper & photo paper. Meaning if I got 4 (2 cp and 2 pp) I would only get rebates for 2. Has anybody bought the 4 items and receive the 4 rebates? Thank you

    • Garagedealz

I bought 2 copy paper & 2 photo paper and my rebate receipts show 2 for each. It says limit 2, that’s per item. Hope this helps!

  11. Tami

How do the rebates work.. do you get the money back pretty fast, or does it take forever like most rebates? I’ve never done reabtes at staples before..

  12. Christy

We didn’t have most of the listed sales either (I’m in Knoxville, TN area). The rebate printed for the copy paper & photo paper, but the calculator was the only one listed in the ad and the copy paper ended up being $1 after rebate instead of $0.50. Still a good deal though.
