Reader Alison recently wrote in with this request :

“Weird request, but could Lina make a copycat version of Dot’s Pretzels? We love them, but they are so expensive ($5.99-$6.99 per bag). You guys are the best!”

Well, Alison, you asked and we delivered!

Here’s a simple way that you can bake a similar tasting pretzel to Dot’s at home using plain pretzels and jazzing them up with butter and a few seasonings. The process is super easy too as far as baking them on a sheet pan, and they are so darn delicious!

Helpful tips for making this copycat Dot’s pretzels recipe:

  • You can look for plain twist-shaped pretzels so they look similar to Dot’s or opt for traditionally shaped pretzels like mine. I just picked the most inexpensive bag. Pretzel sticks will work too.
  • Did you know Dot’s sells their crushed pretzels to use in recipes?! This means you could easily whip up your homemade batch into fine crumbs using a food processor. They would make a tasty breading for chicken or pork!

Just store any leftovers away in a covered container or sealed bag and they’ll make a tasty snack. My family enjoyed this easy idea and I know yours will too!

Dot's Pretzels Homemade

Here’s what my teammate Jenna thought of my copycat Dot’s recipe:

“Dot’s Pretzels are our favorite road trip snack! It’s like an unwritten rule that we need to grab a bag or two of these for the car if we driving for more than an hour. I never once thought of making them myself, but wow… these are amazing! And my family was super impressed! The seasoning is spot on and may be even better. I will definitely be making these often.”

Stay on the salty train with a sweet and salty strawberry pretzel salad is a must-try summertime dessert!

If I wanted to make the mustard pretzels what would I use and how much?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

My guess is some dijon mustard, honey, and sugar. I have not made that version so don’t have exact amounts.

  11. Jackie

The other night I was snacking on some dots and baby carrots…the flavoring got onto my baby carrots and dang – that was good! I searched up the recipe to sprinkle onto baby carrots. Those looking for a low carb version should try it!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

That does sound SO yummy, Jackie! ❤️ Thanks for sharing about your accidental find! 😉🥕

  12. janet

diabetic but LOVE these. But I suck the flavor off of the pretzel. Is there any way to make it a powder and incorporate the obvious butter flavor too so I can just sprinkle it on stuff?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Have you considered maybe just using the seasoning then? onlinebine them in a small jar. Then use as desired on veggies etc. They do make a powdered butter seasoning for popcorn like Molly Mcbutter.

  13. Andrea

Tastes nothing like dots pretzels. Not worth trying if a copycat recipe is what you are looking for.
